Exercise

Take out your journal, and look at the very last page.  If you haven't yet described a recent crisis there, take a few moments and describe a recent crisis there.  Begin by briefly stating what happened, and describe why it felt like a crisis to you.  Go through the IMPROVE skills discussed here and see if you could apply any of these to a similar crisis when something similar comes up in the future.  What do you think might work?

Practice Assignment

Over the next few days, whenever you feel yourself getting tense or upset, think of "IMPROVE", and try to use one of these.  Add these skills to your journal.

As a useful reference, you may wish to check out the Crisis Survival Cheat Sheet.

When you're ready to move on go to: Section 10 - Pros & Cons.
